Pucker Up Cuddle Bug

Asos, Asos... what are you doing to me. This might just be one of the best jumpers I've ever seen ever. With the good looks and charm of a quirky, avant-garde Betty Boop, this oversized jumper just makes me want to give someone a hug then build a fire just so I have something to sit in front of while I sip a hot mocha, cuddle up on the couch in my chunky winter socks and beret and savour the one moment in life when I won't be craving summer.

Bob the Great

I've been watching the most recent Sherlock Holmes movie more frequently lately and I'm pretty sure it's because I just never seem to get bored of watching old Robert Downey Jr's genius at work......and cuz Guy Ritchie is amazing, I love slightly gothic detective stories, and Jude Law ain't so bad lookin'... But seriously (ish), don't think I've ever seen another human being whose brain and creative instincts tick faster and more inexplicably accurately than this dude's. So here is my nod towards the deceptively free spirited, annoyingly intelligent, sometimes cocky, but always swaggeringly stylish Bob the Great.

Love your work, Bob.

Graffiti Couture Heaven

I came across this editorial from French Vogue in 2009 and realized not only that I'd forgotten hoooow absolutely divine it was but also that it's still the shit now. So to make sure that I never forget and in case I do one of you guys can remind me I'm putting up my faves from that spread. Because, dude... that model... I mean, her poses... It's like she's part Jessica Rabbit, part Gaga, part geometric 3D puzzle toy...

Just Because

Watched Across the Universe a couple of days ago! I always come back to this movie and always forget how absolutely amazeballs it is. Probably the only film with singing in it that can still be put in the category of art. But you can always trust Evan Rachel Wood.

I Wish I Was A Flapper Girl

Yeah... Ok that Kimbra video from the last post has deeefinitely reignited my inappropriately obsessive love of period fashion and the style of the 1920's has always been by far the all time fave! Check out my weird collection of 1920's screen siren portraits, old vintagey images, and recent editorials

Good Intent

Yummy. Amazing. Total seductive, retro, classic, precise perfection. She has revived my unfortunately currently unattainable dream to be a white flapper girl chick in the 20's... ideally dating a hard boiled detective type with a tender side who always has a reason to wear one of those awesome hats they always wear. Sexy.

Everything's Better In Black And White

Living In An Age Where A Red T-shirt Says More Than People Ever Could

Amen, Frankie! Amen.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

My FAVOURITE black and white, German, film noir, silent flick of all time! Went to extreme lengths just to get a DVD I rarely watch... totally worth it. Who can make painted cardboard sets, too much make up, and no spoken dialogue suuuuper creepy and evocative? The Germans. I know, I know. Sounds lame. But just so you know, you're wrong! Just got to see it to know what I'm chattering about...

And as an added bonus, when you're talking about this film you get to use the word Somnambulist. How many films can claim that! Basically cuz it's about an evil guy who has a sideshow act at a fair and his act is that he pulls out of his cupboard this Somnambulist who can tell unusually excited people at the fair when they're going to die... then they do... then the somnambulist falls in love with a chick, and kidnaps her (possibly because he's a bit too ugly to actually attract her through traditional courtship), and her boyfriend is none too thrilled about this, the chase ensues... fast forward fast forward and it's suggested this could all have been the imagination of the boyfriend who is actually in a mental institution and none of it ever happened... THEN it's suggested that the evil guy runs the mental institution and locked the boyfriend in their so he wouldn't tell anyone he was the one killing the dudes in the middle of the night... confused? Good. I love movies like that :D Bit of Mulholland Drive inspired severe brain seizures going on...

Amazing. This film is literally art. Just as it should be.
